However, if you are looking for a job in either a local non-profit or one that has a larger scope, the following sites could be useful.

1) Idealist. This web site is the home of one of the most comprehensive job databases dedicated solely to non-profits. Positions available here range from internships and volunteering opportunities to executive-level jobs, and the site is particularly popular among those trying to make the move from a for-profit organization to a non-profit. Jared Seyl also suggests that you check out the Idealist career fairs, which are held multiple times a year in many cities.

2) National Council of Nonprofits. The National Council is a nationwide organization of non-profits organized by local councils. The web site’s career center is easy to use and searchable according to area. You can also find information about non-profit councils close to your location. Jared Seyl considers the NCN one of the safest job-searching resources as each non-profit that makes a job posting has been vetted by their local council.

3) Devex. While Devex is often used by non-profit professionals looking for opportunities outside the US, it also contains job openings located within the US, sometimes posted by government agencies such as USAID. Jared Seyl recommends Devex for its excellent content featuring news and opinions on international development issues, which could prove useful for those who are trying to make the big move abroad. In addition, Devex has offices in Barcelona and Manila, making it a highly-reliable source of information on development jobs in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
