Three Non-Profits You Never Knew Existed
Non-profits are as varied as the causes they support, and Jared Seyl has volunteered with some pretty interesting ones. He has worked with soldiers transitioning from the military to civilian life, among others. In the Denver area and beyond, there are thousands of non-profits that serve various sectors of society, from animals to children with chronic illnesses. Here are three of them.
1) American National CattleWomen Inc. The cattle industry has gone beyond the days of the Wild West, cowboys, and rodeos. Nowadays, cattle raising has gone mostly automated and the makeup of the industry has gotten more diverse. The American National CattleWomen advances the advocacies of thousands of women who work as farmhands, cowherds, and dairy workers throughout the country, something Jared Seyl thinks is a noble cause.
2) Zombie Squad. While this organization’s main business is zombie removal, things have become a bit slow on the zombie front lately. This is why the Zombie Squad spends much of its time training communities on disaster preparedness, raising funds for disaster relief, and responding to emergencies. After all, says Jared Seyl, you can’t predict when a zombie apocalypse would strike, but you can always start preparing your community for one.
3) 501st Legion. The 501st Legion is more than just a bunch of people in costumes inspired by Star Wars stormtroopers; this organization wants to let people know that the “bad guys” of the Star Wars franchise have good hearts too. These costumed guardians of the Republic participate in fundraisers, hospital visits, and parades to raise awareness of different issues, including improved care for children with cancer. With a worldwide reach that stretches all the way across both the Atlantic and the Pacific, Jared Seyl believes the 501st Legion is set to take over the rest of Earth – for the greater good.
